Day 2 of the Thunder in the Valley lived up to its name with thunderstorms in the area, threatening the evening’s event. Teams that showed up early were thankful for the clouds giving some heat relief, but prayed for everything to pass the track in order to get the race in as scheduled. The POWRi National and POWRi West midget racing series joined forces in a 2-day mid-season showdown at the ¼ mile track of Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO. 34 drivers hailing from OK, IL, KY, AZ, CA, TX, KS, MO, and MN competed for the top prize each night, with an added bonus of a $1,000 dash for the top 5 drivers from each series.
