Tyler Nelson #88 made an impressive showing in his first USAC Midget Nationals on the 1/2 mile track known as the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Bellville, KS. On prelim night, Thursday, July 30th, Tyler turned in an 18.439 lap speed in Qualifying. 17th fastest in a field of 31 cars and only .667 seconds behind Defending Chili Bowl Champion Rico Abreu. The night started off with a heat race win against 6 other drivers, which included Bryan Clauson. We had started 6th so we would start of the pole of the A-main. We fell to second early on but regained the lead, and swapped the lead out with a couple of other driver for a while, before hitting a rut on the entry of turn 3 and bicycling the car, causing front end damage and a flat tire.
