Nienhiser Second Against Sprint Invaders Aboard Midland Performance No. 50

Nienhiser Second Against Sprint Invaders Aboard Midland Performance No. 50

PETERSEN MEDIA: Paul Nienhiser and the Midland Performance team continue to put together strong runs with the Sprint Invaders as Nienhiser would rebound from an opening lap issues on Friday night at Lee County to run sixth, before running second on Saturday night at 34 Raceway.

“I always have a blast running the Midland Performance car, and we are always fast,” Nienhiser said. “We sure do have a ton of second place finishes together, and I really wish I could turn these into wins for the team.”

Friday night kicked off to double header weekend with the Sprint Invaders for Nienhiser as he checked into Lee County Speedway and finished second in his heat race.

Not qualifying for the Dash, the Chapin, IL driver would line up eighth in the feature event and got a great jump when the green flag was displayed. Nienhiser’s great jump would be all for not, as chaos in front of him would shoot him spinning into the infield and it would bring out the yellow.

Luckily only suffering light damage, Nienhiser would tag the rear of the field for the restart and showcased a very strong car that was capable of working the bottom groove, as well as ripping the high side of the speedway.

Working his way through the field, Nienhiser would work into the sixth spot when a late race yellow bunched the field up. Looking for a way into the Top-5, Nienhiser would try to make the bottom work, but late in the race the top was just too good, and he would cap the night with a sixth-place finish.

Checking in at 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA on Saturday night, Nienhiser would have a similar draw for his heat that again saw him finish second after starting third.

With more cars on this night, more cars were eligible for the Dash and Nienhiser would make the cut on this night. Riding the bike when the Dash came to life, Nienhiser would fall back to eighth where he would finish, putting him on the outside of the fourth row for the second consecutive night.

With Scott Bonar putting his super tune on the Midland Performance No. 50 machine prior to the feature, Nienhiser would advance up to third within the first two laps of the feature event.

Battling with the likes of Lynton Jeffrey for the second position, Nienhiser would admittedly be too nice in traffic and he kept him back in the third spot.

Once in second, the hooked-up surface would make it tough to reel in the race leader who had broken away from Nienhiser during his battle for the second spot.

Holding on to the second spot in the closing laps, Nienhiser capped his weekend off with a second-place finish.

“Big thanks to Scott and his team for the opportunity,” Nienhiser said. “I hate that we couldn’t get a win, but two really good nights for us.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.

2020 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-24, Wins-2, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-11
