Inside Line Promotions – GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (June 13, 2016) – Tony Bruce Jr. pocketed a pair of good results last weekend while driving for Jeff Smith in Missouri during an ASCS Warrior Region doubleheader.

The action began on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, where Bruce Jr. took advantage of his front row starting position in a heat race.

“We were able to win the heat race, which was nice because they paid $500 to win each heat race,” he said.

That advanced Bruce Jr. into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 2 during the random draw to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“During the entire A Main (Jonathan) Cornell and I exchanged second place quite a few times,” he said. “I think if I could have got to the top sooner and really if we could have had longer green flag runs we’d have had a car just as good Jack Dover, but every time we got going we had a caution.”

Bruce Jr. ended with a runner-up result, which was his third top five of the season.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Valley Speedway, where Bruce Jr. placing fifth in a heat race.

“We struggled at the beginning of the night,” he said. “We weren’t very good in hot laps. We made some changes and still weren’t good in the heat. We pretty much changed everything for the feature. We really didn’t know how far to go. We were a little off, but had the car going in the right direction. We definitely made some positive gains. We just started too far off.”

Bruce Jr. rallied from his 14th starting position into a podium spot before finishing sixth.

“At one point we got to third and a caution came out,” he said. “I had to go back to fourth and I made a mistake and ran through the infield and ended up losing two spots at the end.”

Bruce Jr. will drive for Danny King this Friday at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan., and Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., with the NCRA. The duo won the last time they raced together.
